About Lucy Young As a child Lucy used to pore over Mary Berry’s cake books with her mother. Lucy followed her passion for food, gained a classic Cordon Bleu Training in 1987. She then worked for a private catering firm, cooking for weddings and parties and also worked in a small restaurant Since 1990, Lucy has worked alongside Mary Berry, as her assistant. In July of that year, Lucy helped set up the very first AGA Workshop and ever since has been the mainstay of the bookings, recipes and structure. When Lucy (known as Luc!) arrived at Watercroft her office was the cupboard under the stairs. Now she has her own office and a test kitchen for her and a loyal team to develop the recipes for Mary’s demonstrations and books. Lucy has also worked with Mary on the BBC TV series - "Mary Berry's Ultimate Cakes" and "Mary Berry at Home". Lucy worked behind the scenes preparing all the ingredients throughout filming and styled all the food for the final shots. Lucy has now written her first book, "Secrets from a Country Kitchen", which is available in bookshops, Amazon.co.uk, and from our website. The book, described by Mary as “Country Living meets Easy Cooking,” includes over 100 delicious recipes and covers every occasion, be it a drinks party, a midweek dinner with friends or a family supper in the kitchen. It contains many new recipes as well as old favourites with a modern twist. The book also has practical tips, shows you how to avoid obvious pitfalls, preparation, cooking times and whether the dish can be frozen or not as well as providing cooking instructions for Agas and conventional ovens. Mary adds, “Lucy will inspire a new generation of cooks.” Lucy's second book Aga easy (Absolute Press £20) is out now, over 100 easy recipes for the Aga owner. Lucy's recipes are hassle free but producing the best quality food, you friends and family will be very impressed! Mary Berry says "Lucy will inspire a new generation of Aga cooks". Each recipe has conventional timings too. Find out the latest news on Lucy and her books on her new website, http://www.lucyoung.co.uk.
